Class B Championship on the Line for Sticklen
Nathan Sticklen will race for the Class B Championship in Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge this weekend at Phillip Island, alongside Danny Stutterd and Sam Fillmore who will compete in Pro-Am.
Entering the sixth and final round of the season, Sticklen is 38 points off the Championship lead. Stutterd and Fillmore have both run part time schedules, and will be aiming to disrupt the Championship fight in Pro-Am.
Sticklen’s maiden season of racing had seen him claim numerous runner up finishes before his breakthrough victory in the rain in Bathurst last time out. One of the challenges for Sticklen in 2022 has been learning new tracks on the go but Phillip Island is a circuit he’s visited before, albeit on a track bike.
“I am pumped as for this weekend,” said Sticklen.
“It’s been a really enjoyable year racing Lachy (Harburg) and Jacob (Li) in Class B. They’re both extremely fast and I’m looking forward to some hard racing on the Island.
“The points table hasn’t been something I’ve really looked at all year but coming into the final round it’s fantastic to be in with a chance. I actually did my bit to convince Lachy to come down and finish off the season so we could battle it out on the track for the Championship.
“I have been to Phillip Island five times before, but it was on a Track Bike. It’s something, certainly better than going in with no knowledge!”
Stutterd has contested two rounds in 2022, finishing on all three steps of the podium over the course of five races. In his Pro-Am title winning season in 2018, Stutterd’s Phillip Island visit was one of his best rounds of the year. Two class race wins came the way of the eventual champion, rounded out by a third place to claim the round win.
Fillmore also contested the 2018 season, where he notched up fifth place in the standings. Fillmore’s visit to Phillip Island netted him two top five finishes. His debut for TekworkX and only series starts of 2022 came last time out in Bathurst. Fillmore improved over the course of the weekend, finishing seventh in race one and fifth in race two before challenging for the podium spots in the final race.
The last round of the 2022 Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge season will take place at Phillip Island on November 25 and 26.
