Consistency The Target for Woods and Freestone
Jordan Freestone and Zoe Woods will return to Sydney Motorsport Park for round three of the Toyota 86 Scholarship Series, the same venue at which the series kicked off in April.
The TekworkX Motorsport pair are aiming to earn qualification for the National Toyota 86 Series, which kicks off at Townsville next month and, if successful, will be the next event for the duo after this weekend’s round.
With two rounds completed in this year’s Scholarship Series, both drivers are in position to earn the qualification with a clean round this weekend.
“I’m going to take a more cautious approach at this one,” said Freestone.
“We just need to take it easy and make sure that we finish every race and collect the points. I didn’t start the weekend how I wanted at Phillip Island and that hurt the rest of the weekend, to where I picked up a DNF and that dropped us down the standings.
“Tim Brook and Cameron Crick have been instrumental to keeping me calm as we try to qualify for Townsville, they’ve experienced every possible situation and know what to do no matter what scenario I’m in out there,” concluded Freestone.
Woods is also eager to solidify her place inside the promotion places and is buoyed by a return to a familiar track.
“It’s great to be returning to Sydney, where we started the year,” said Woods.
“I am feeling more confidence with each round, and I am happy with what we have achieved so far. This weekend is all about continuing to improve and staying out of trouble. The target is to qualify for Townsville, but we will see what happens in Sydney, at the moment we are on track for that.
“The team have done a few test days around Sydney, so it’s a place we feel very comfortable at. The data we gather at round one will be a great benefit as well, and I can continue my development on that circuit from where I ended race three last time,” concluded Woods.
Round three of the Toyota 86 Scholarship Series takes place at Sydney Motorsport Parl from June 16-18.
