TekworkX Expand GT4 Program ahead of GT Festival
TekworkX Motorsport will bring an expanded two-car Monochrome GT4 Australia operation to Phillip Island this weekend for the inaugural GT Festival.
Following a strong showing in Queensland Raceway’s three-hour feature, Zoe Woods returns in her Porsche Cayman 716 GT4. Woods is joined for the first time by Tom McLennan, who steered a McLaren to victory in the opening race of the weekend in Queensland before taking home third place in the three-hour.
McLennan’s debut in the TekworkX Porsche will have an air of familiarity, with the 19-year-old splitting his time in 2024 between GT4 Australia and a rookie season in Porsche Carrera Cup.
“I’m really excited to be joining TekworkX this weekend at Phillip Island,” said McLennan.
“I can’t thank the team and Zoe enough for having me onboard to drive their Porsche this weekend at such a late notice. Really looking forward to working with the team, as I have always raced against them in other Porsche series so it’s cool to now join them for a weekend.
“I’ve done plenty of driving in Porsches so hopefully we can transfer that into the GT4 and grab a good result this weekend with Zoe and the team,” concluded McLennan.
With Woods also dovetailing her GT4 campaign with time in TGRA GR Cup, the pairing form a formidable line-up in the increasingly competitive silver class, with the category returning this weekend to dual one-hour sprint races.
“Looking forward to working with Tom and having him with us this weekend, he’s had a lot of Porsche seat time so it’s more knowledge coming into the team and someone I can work with to gain even more experience,” said Woods.
“After having a good weekend at Phillip Island last time, we’ll be able to take what we learnt and really build on it this time around. It’s a great track and we’ve learnt a lot about the car since that opening round.
“It’s all about the flow so we’ll be getting in the groove and testing the boundaries, having that trust and the team behind me is important and helps a lot going into the weekend,” concluded Woods.
Making the switch to TekworkX Motorsport ahead of Phillip Island are Pro-Am race winners Steve Jakic and Ryder Quinn. The pairing has put together an impressive season so far in their BMW GT4, most recently scoring a class victory at Queensland Raceway. The duo sits third in the Pro-Am driver standings after three rounds in 2024.
Quinn impressed at Phillip Island’s season opening round with a blistering debut to earn second on the grid for the first race of the year.
“Steve and I are excited to hit the track this weekend,” said Quinn.
“It’s our second time racing at the Island and what a weekend it is going to be. Last time around we won our class on track which was an awesome result, and we’ll look to replicate that this weekend in the Black Diamond BMW GT4,” concluded Quinn.
Round four of Monochrome GT4 Australia takes place from August 23-25 as part of the inaugural GT Festival, with live race coverage on Fox Sports and Kayo.
