Woods and Stutterd Combine for Superb Result in 3 Hour GT4 Race
Zoe Woods and Danny Stutterd have combined for an excellent sixth place result in the first ever GT4 Australia Enduro race, on Sunday morning at Queensland Raceway.
The majority of the round in GT4 Australia was spent building towards the series’ first 3-hour race on Sunday morning. After two days of testing through Thursday and Friday practice, Woods earned 11th on the grid for Saturday’s 1 hour race while Stutterd excelled in his first GT4 qualifying to go 7th fastest in his session.
Woods started Saturday’s race, challenging for a spot inside the top 10 through the majority of her stint before handing over to Stutterd for the closing stages who brought the car home in ninth place.
The roles were reversed on Sunday morning, as from ninth place on the grid Stutterd was tasked with the opening stint in what would prove to be a four stop race. After two early stops, a well-executed strategy afforded Woods and Stutterd the opportunity to rise up the order with some excellent driving to claim sixth place by the chequered flag.
The TekworkX Motorsport crew also fielded two entries in Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge, the Pro-class car of Hamish Fitzsimmons and Rob Woods in Pro-Am.
Fitzsimmons showed off his overtaking abilities once again, first in a drive from 10th to 6th in Race 1 and then a charging performance from 16th to 8th in the 45-minute Enduro Cup race on Saturday afternoon.
After qualifying fifth in Pro-Am, Woods improved to finish fourth in Pro-Am in Race 1 before being forced into an early retirement while running inside the top five once again in the second race of the weekend.
The next round of the GT4 Australia season takes place at Phillip Island from August 23-25 as part of the GT Festival.

“From my point of view I couldn’t be happier with the car, the setup and Zoe particularly for letting me drive,” said Stutterd.
“It was my first time in a GT4 car, I really enjoyed it. She taught me lessons all weekend, I was chasing her tail, and I couldn’t catch her so she’s very fast and to be honest she did a great job.
“We both had a heap of fun, I think we started ninth and finished sixth in the Enduro so we had a really good weekend. To be honest I’m looking forward to doing another one if Zoe will let me, she’s a superstar so can’t wait to do another with her,” concluded Stutterd.

“We just finished up here at QR, it was a pretty good weekend. I had Danny with me this round so that was really good to have a co-driver,” said Woods.
“I personally really enjoyed the 3-hour race, I believe this format created some great racing but also got the team really involved with the racing side and working out the strategy. I really think GT4 will thrive from more endurance racing, it was great to be a part of it.
“Danny has raced a lot of cars over the years and so it was great to have his knowledge onboard. It was his first time in the car, so we both learnt a lot from each other. It was very strange to be outside the car watching it on the track, but it was great to see Danny racing it out there.
“We finished in sixth position outright so we’re pretty happy with our overall weekend,” concluded Woods.
